    Alyssa received an NIH mentored training award for her work on Shwachman Diamond Syndrome. She adds this to her prior mentored grants from the Evan’s Foundation for MDS and St. Baldrick’s. Hooray Alyssa!

  • American Society of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology (ASPHO) Award: Frank A. Oski Lectureship

    Dr. Shimamura was honored to receive the ASPHO award on behalf of the work achieved by everyone in the lab. Although the award was received in 2020, Dr. Shimamura’s lecture was delayed until 2021 due to the pandemic. Thanks to ASPHO for recognizing our efforts to unravel the causes of bone marrow failure and MDS and to find better treatments to treat these devastating conditions.

    We are delighted to welcome Porscha, our new administrative assistant working with Dr. Shimamura. Porscha brings a wealth of experience as a former clinic coordinator, and we look forward to working together on the research side.

    Greta graduated from college this spring and we are delighted she is joining our clinical research team as a new Clinical Research Assistant working on the Bone Marrow Failure/MDS project and the Shwachman Diamond Syndrome Registry
